Freedom Tower

Hi,

Because I ended my previous post with a picture of the Freedom Tower under construction, I wish to add some facts regarding what will be also known as One World Trade Center.

The structure will be the tallest building in the US at 1,776 feet or 541 meters. This includes a fiberglass enclosed 408-foot antenna.

The Twin Towers were 1,368 feet tall.

The new structure will be covered with 23 acres of blast resistant glass. The observation decks will be on floors 100 and 101, and the offices will be spread over 71 floors, with a total of 2.6 million acres of  space.

The anchor tenant, Conde Nast, will occupy floors 20 through 41.

Five express elevators will move at the speed of 2,000 feet per minute.

The shape will look like a puzzle of 8 large triangles, and just above the mid-point, it will make a perfect octagon.

The building is scheduled to open in 2014.
